Creating New Space for a Growing Community

Alesia completed a 20,854 SF addition and 11,214 SF renovation of space in a 1948 Gothic-style church, last renovated in 1962. Resurrection Lutheran Church sought our firm’s help to meet the needs of this growing community. A tight and complicated site provided a challenge, but the church had purchased additional property that was able to be creatively utilized for a successful design. Plans included added classroom and training space, additional sanctuary space, a fellowship hall, and additional administrative space. The plan included a room that could function both as a bridal dressing room for weddings or as a private family grieving room for funerals. A unique element featured in their master plan was the complete reversal of the sanctuary. The renovation allows for more room at the back of the sanctuary for a narthex and fellowship area and direct access to the newly built parking.
